Health Update and Some Thrifted Finds

So I had a second ER trip on Friday. Turns out I was right and the not being able to breath right was the biggest problem. This time around they actually checked that out and gave me some albuterol. I have an inhaler now to help when the chest tightness flares up. Hopefully it's just a temporary allergy issue and not asthma.

Anyways to cheer me up, my lovely lovely boyfriend took me to a couple different thrift stores over the weekend and I found a lot of goodies! So enough rambling about my broken body and onto the pictures of goodies!

Yes that is Ghoulia's scooter for $9.99. If you know anything about Monster High you would know that's a great deal. I was super excited.

Here's a better picture of it. It had been opened and was missing the backpack, but for $9.99 I don't really mind.

Because just owning the Monster High dolls isn't enough, I got this dress so I could look like one too. It very much reminds me of something Rochelle would wear. Yes I am taking fashion inspiration from kids toys. I think it could look super cute with tall boots.

Two different antique fashion plates in what I think is their original antique frames. There was tons of them lying around the Goodwill by my moms' house. These were my favorite though. I'm probably going to paint the frames black before I hang them up.

Not an actual steel-boned corset, just plastic. It looks super pretty though, and for me that's all that really matters. It was clearly made for someone a little busty-ier than me, so I'll probably be wearing over shirts most of the time.

Cute cat-eye sunglasses that were super cheap. Instead of the $20 I see them for online usually.

I also got a couple black skirts but I couldn't get decent pictures of them. Nothing like some retail therapy to cheer a sick girl up.

The Professor's Monthly Homework Assignment: Spring.

Yeah I'm a little late, but I have a really good excuse. Last night I was in the ER. I even got a pretty picture taken by my roommate to prove it.

I'm fine mostly. Apparently I had just gotten very very run-down from working too much and too hard. Retail work and auto-immune diseases don't really mix well. Also I may be coming down with a stomach virus. Nothing major though, so that's good. On to my spring inspired outfit I wore to work yesterday!

It was raining, hence the rainboots. I guess we got our April Showers a little early here in SF. Although instead of May flowers we're just getting more cold, wet, windy weather. On the plus side rain boots look adorable with dresses. Maybe not the "gawthy!" of footwear, but I think they lend a certain retro cuteness.

Plus they do make me think of spring, especially with the polka dots. For whatever reason polka dots make me think of spring. Which is why I'm wearing pretty much three things with them in this outfit. On my boots, on my tights, and sort of on my cardigan. The big hair flower was the extra icing on the spring cake that is my outfit.

Bonus picture of my all sorts of ridiculous face that my roomie/photographer managed to snap.

Outfit rundown:
Cardigan: White House Black Market
Dress: Thrifted
Belt: White House Black Market
Tights: White House Black Market
Boots: Sears
Hair Flower: Claire's
Necklace: White House Black Market

That's all folks! So long for now,
Caity

Finally the Guam Photos!

So I suck as a blogger as I have only now gotten around to posting the photos from my vacation I took over a month ago. Oh well here they are now. There's quite a few of them.

Yes even goth girls can wear a tropical print. Just a much prettier black and dark blue printed one. Oh yeah and I dyed my hair black right before I left on vacation.

Here's me and my 9 year old brother, Ciaran. Yes he is wearing black nail polish. He wanted me to paint them for him.

I'm not exactly sure what kind of dancing this was other than some sort of traditional Micronesian dance. The hotel never really explained. It was fun to watch though.

The hotel even had cockatoos! It was the Hyatt Regency so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by the fancy ness.

Parrots too!

Picture of the beach behind our hotel. It was absolutely amazing.

This is everyone minus my step-mom in actually one of the five pools located at the hotel. From left to right (Eleanor who is 7 now, Elizabeth who is 15, Me, Ciaran, Ephraim who is 6 and my dad). Yes my family really is that big.

We tried to take a picture of us jumping from the rock thing into the pool. It only sort of worked, but I think it's a cute picture.

On the second day there we went out on a boat for some fishing and snorkeling. The scenery was beautiful!

And fishies! I have no idea what kind.

My sister sitting on the front of the boat. If someone knows that that's called it would be awesome if you could tell me.

On the last night we tried to take some family photos in the hotel lobby. This is the only one that turned out marginally ok. My sunburn is oh so pretty in this one. I got sunburned on the first day, it was pretty nasty.

That's all of the good photos!
Until next time,
Caity

Monthly Theme: Purple!

This month's theme is purple and as I nearly forgot about until I checked Sophistique Noir's blog yesterday. Of course I am at my mom's this weekend and have none of my few purple items with me. Except for my nails which I painted lavender before I knew about the theme. Yes I occasionally paint my nails in pastels. I think it's a lovely contrast to my much darker outfits.

A picture of my nails doesn't really make a full post though, so I hopped on over to polyvore to make some outfits with purple in them. There's four, three in goth styles I wear frequently and one in a style I've recently discovered.

1. Neovictorian Goth

neovictorian purple

One of my favorite goth styles that was actually the first thing that got me into the subculture in the first place. I learned about steampunk from a friend and down the rabbit hole I went. But that is a story for another post.

2. Gothabilly

purple rockabilly

My second favorite style! Probably the one I wear the most often because it's just easier to pull on a dress and throw on some shoes. At least for me. Plus I can wear it at work, though not really with a necklace like this one. Sidenote: I really want that necklace in every color it comes in. (No more purple left but you can find it in black, pink and red here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/StrangerDangerAU?ref=seller_info)

4. Casual/T-shirt and Jeans Goth

casual purple

I wore variations of the outfit above in high school all the time. Once I started college though, I pretty much stopped wearing jeans most of the time for a long while. Recently though, I've been making use out of all the graphic tees I have once again. It's a cute easy way for me to feel me without having to dress up. Plus I have too many tees to not wear them. I'm still lusting after this Alice one though.

4. Kinderwhore/Kindergoth

purple kindergoth

This would be the style I've been interested in the most recently. I've liked the music of the bands that inspired this style, Hole, Babes in Toyland, Jack Off Jill, etc. since high school. Fast forward a month or so ago when I was looking through Sary Walrus's very old posts and this post in particular: http://ourwalrusroom.blogspot.com.au/2011/07/kinderwhore-my-next-favourite-fashion.html made me really want to try the style out. Since then I've been looking for a good pair of combat boots and finally found some today at Target. I will have an outfit post with them soon! That is all for my purple post. Tomorrow I will hopefully have the Guam pictures up.
'Till we meet again,
Caity

Mini Post: New Theme & Back from Vacation.

So I decided to change my theme because the old one made it hard for me to read my own blog. So I figured a lighter background with darker text would be better. Plus I adore the pink and the stripes. Sorry I have been basically M.I.A. I recently got back from a vacation, which I will make a post about as soon as my sister emails me the photos. I was in Guam and it was beautiful and seeing my siblings was absolutely lovely. I will talk more about it in my next post. That's all I got for today.
