Outfit Post: Preppy Goth? Plus a little FOTD.

Okay, so I was quite nervous about posting this, as I fear getting random comments of "That is not goth!". Still I decided to take the plunge. Lately I've been playing with the idea of pairing perhaps the least gothy way of dressing with some very gothy elements. Sort of like gothabilly, but a bit less kitchsy. More like what I think Jackie O or Audrey Hepburn would have worn if they were goth.

So here's my little first outfit in this style. Also I decided to try the goth color theory of Black+Color+Color inspired by CorpGoth's rather old post here: http://corpgoth.blogspot.com/2010/12/gothic-color-theory.html. Although maybe that's two colors, does white could as an accent color here?

Also sorry for the not so fantastic quality of these pictures. I can't find the usb cord for my camera so all of these were taken with my iphone, by my lovely boyfriend. Anyways, onto the face of the day.

I decided to do a bit of gray based pin-up look. With blue eyeliner to match my skirt for fun. I'm also wearing my new favorite lipstick, Revlon Fire and Ice. It's a bit more of toned down red, plus it's a color they've had since the 1950's. The vintage lover in me just couldn't resist.

You can kind of see the winged liner here. So I hope y'all out there liked the little post, and will be nice.

Gothidays Day Six (One for Me): My Little Yule Altar

Here's my little fake tree from Walgreens. Yes, I am aware that my ornaments are not strictly Pagan but they mean something to me and it's my spiritual space so that's what's important.

Some more little decor from Walgreens plus my two candles. One is from Bath and Body Works. The 'Tis the Season scent in case anyone cares. It's awesome. The other is from Joann's that I got last year, and I have never lit it because I don't want to melt away the pretty!

Bird's eye view of the decor. Yay sparkles, they just feel festive to me.

This year is going to be my first year actually celebrating Yule/Solstice. When I was younger it was always Christmas, with my mom it wasn't really that religious. Except for the one year we went to the midnight Christmas Eve service at First Presbyterian in Palo Alto when I was six or seven. With my dad it was always rather traditionally Christian. This year though, I am finally doing a little Pagan celebration. Though I don't know what yet. So far I just have my altar. Any suggestions for what you and yours have done would be very welcome!

All I know so far is that me, my boyfriend and my best friend will be meeting up at her house on the 21st. Other than a present exchange we haven't figured out any rituals or what not. I am still doing the "normal" Christmas thing with my mommies (my mom and her wife). Complete with stockings and Christmas morning waffles. Although it will have to be the weekend before Christmas, because I work retail and my mommies will be leaving for Connecticut on Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve at midnight I will be at my boyfriend's for his family Christmas. And now that you know every detail of my Christmas I am going to shut up and go away.

Outfit Post: Mary Poppins Inspired!

Source: http://theatrefashion.tumblr.com/

So I saw this picture a loooong time ago and saved it in my ginormous folder of fashion inspiration pictures on my computer. I was looking through it the other day and realized I have the exact same skirt. So of course, I had to make my own version of this outfit. Because who doesn't want to look like Mary Poppins.

Top: Thrifted. Cardigan: Thrifted. Skirt: White House Black Market.
Bracelet: Forever21. Tights: White House Black Market. Shoes: Amazon.

For me, I did a black blouse and black tights instead of the cream in the original picture. Plus I don't have any heels like that, nor would I be able to wear heels that high. So instead I wore my nearly flat granny boots, which I bought recently. They are amazing! It took me months to find them, because most boots like that are heeled. Anyways, that is my Mary Poppins Inspired outfit.

P.S. I am sorry I am a terrible blogger who never posts.
P.S.S. Tomorrow I am going to have a Goth-a-days (From Professor Z's Cabinet of Curiosities blog) about my holiday celebrations. I'm a little scared to do a personal non-fashion post but I want to do that sometimes here so yeah. Please be nice!

Rainy-Day Goth

So it's finally been rainy in San Francisco! Which while I love rain, I've noticed it's not ideal weather for totally ooky-spooky victorian goth clothes. So with too much time on my hands and a polyvore account, I figured I'd come up with some outfit ideas for when the weather gets a little wet.

rainy day goth

I know what you're thinking, rainboots are not goth! But one, when it pours like it does in SF you kind of need them. Two, these ones have a lace print on them! So they're kind of goth, enough. Plus they look really nice with the coat. Note: I did not actually make sure that the coats in these outfits are waterproof. Think of these as guidelines, not rules.

rainy day goth two

Here's something a little more gothy with the cape and the boots. The boots kind of remind me of the riding boots Lady Mary had in Downton Abbey. Also the umbrella is all sorts of awesome.

rainy day goth three

This is a much much more simpler outfit. It's subtly goth, because sometimes when it's wet and cold outside I just want to wear pants. Though being me, that does not mean just throwing on a t-shirt. So a button up and blazer combo works. The boots are a bit stompier than I would wear, but you get the idea.

rainy day goth four

This last one is the most victorian, over-the-top I would probably go during a rainy day. Even then it would have to be a light rainy day. But hey if the boots are waterproof enough and I won't be outside for long, it could work.

So there you go, four ideas to keep your gothiness even when the weather isn't ideal.

This is CorpGoth's Mid-Month Status Report: Go to Work Outfit

I've been reading CorpGoth for awhile and am a big fan of Ms. Trystan's style. Also her advice on how to stay true to your style while at the office has been awfully helpful. While I don't work in an office, I work retail the advice is still helpful. White House Black Market dress code is still business casual. Anyways, without further ado, onto my go to outfit!

Everything is from White House except for the hair clip which is from Target.

Cardigan : White House. Top: Thrifted. Skirt: Forever 21. Belt: H&M.
Headband: Forever 21. Necklace: Vintage.

Yes these are from my tumblr outfit posts. I've been too busy at said work to take real blog post pictures. I'm sorry! Anyways, go to outfit is cardigan, top of some sort, skirt, usually a pencil skirt (I have three). It's an easy go to for me, and feels just a little pin-up which I like. So there you go, this Babybat's a baby Corp-Goth too!

Going on a Trip

For my birthday (which is tomorrow if you want to leave any birthday wishes, wink wink) my mom and her wife bought me a trip to Colorado to see my boyfriend. So I decided I'd do a quick little post of the outfits I will be wearing for the five days I will be there. Yay!

Jacket: Thrifted
Dress: Thrifted
Shoes: Payless (they're actually kids shoes. I have tiny feet)

This is what I plan on wearing on the plane. Also those are the only pair of shoes I'm taking. I like to pack light. Also those are my boyfriend's dog tags. He's an Army man. Though he's just in the National Guard now while he finishes his last bit of school. On to what I'm packing.

Cami: White House Black Market
Sweater: Hand me down
Skirt: Thrifted
Belt: White House Black Market
Necklace: Forever 21 (it's a little rabbit)

Blouse: Hand me down
Sash: From my bridesmaid's dress from my mom's wedding
Skirt: same as above

Dress: Thrifted
Sweater: Same as above
Sash: H&M (from an old dress)

Jacket: Same as abobe
Shirt: Hand me down
Skirt: Thrifted

Yep that's all the clothes I'm taking. 2 skirts, 2 dresses, 3 tops, only one pair of shoes, and one jacket. Plus a few different necklaces. Now I am off to shower and then soon bed because I have to get up at 5 am to make my flight.

August Monthly Theme: Bows!

So I am participating in another one of Sophistique Noir's theme things. Instead of a week, it's just a one day thing. I'm putting it in last minute like the good little slacker I am. Anyways the theme is bows, so naturally I went a little overboard as bows are one of my favorite thing.

I haven't worn this dress often enough and it's kind of fabulous. It's another one of my thrift finds. It's surprisingly lightweight and comfy.

Here's a little close-up of the dress. I am kind of really in love with the swiss-dot like look of the fabric. Which is polyester georgette actually, not chiffon as I originally thought. My friend who goes to FIDM taught me that.

Plus I wore my awesome bow headband veil thing that my best friend bought me. She has a matching one in black.

Plus bow shoes! The ones I got from work, otherwise known as White House Black Market.

Plus bonus picture my roomie got of me and the cat. I look weird, the cat looks cute.

Vacation Post 2: Connecticut and Louisiana

Yes I know this is late. I have been busy and had to get all these photos off of Facebook. Also I'm lumping both trips together because 1. there aren't many pictures and 2. I was only gone for a week.

On the fourth we all got to go on my aunt and uncle's boat. I'm a little in love with the swimsuit I got at target. The bottom is a skirt! Plus the hat is pretty awesome too.

Going out on the dingy to swim near this one island in the river. That's my cousin controlling the thing. The pretty lady looking up at the camera is my mom's wife Diane and she's awesome.

Me and my mom in the airport. I was on my way to Louisiana she was one the way back to California.

Plus fabulous hat number two.

Awkward family photo in Louisiana. I'm standing next to my dad's wife, Carol Ann. Then there's my foster brother, Ephram. The girl with awesome blue hair is my sister Elizabeth. Then there's my brother Ciaran and my sister Eleanor.

Awkward family photo in Louisiana number two. This was at LSU. At least my siblings look cute. I have my derp face on.

Long Time No Blog Post: Vacation Post 1 (Warning very picture heavy)

So I got really busy at work, then I was on vacation. Then I was switching rooms in my apartment. So haven't really been able to blog. These pictures are about 3 weeks old. They were taken at a family friend's house a day before I left for Connecticut.

This is me and my sister Elizabeth, it was her 15th birthday. Also she took all the pictures that she's not in.

This is my other sister Eleanor, she's 7.

This is my brother Ciaran, he's 9 now.

Unfortunately there are no pictures of the newest addition to the family, Ephram. My dad and his wife (all my siblings are half-siblings) live in Shanghai, and they're fostering Ephram. So he and my dad weren't on the California leg of the trip. There should be pictures of him from Louisiana so look forward for that post.
