Very Inspiring Blogger Award

The lovely Shannon of Drinking Not Studying just tagged me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. I honestly don't know what to say except thank you thank you thank you. I am blushing right now as I write this. I'm not very good with compliments and awards. So thank you and onto the five odd facts about me.

1. I'm in a sorority. While that might not seem that odd, it is a little for me. I'm fairly certain most people don't look at me and think "sorority girl" but I am! I'm actually an alumnae of the Delta Gamma chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma.

2. Part of my family lives overseas. My dad, step-mom and my half-siblings all live in Shanghai, China. They moved there right before I started my junior year of high school and have been there since. I usually visit them once a year. This year instead I'll be seeing them in Guam for the family vacation which is in just a week now.

3. This isn't that odd to me, but it may to others. I actually have three moms! My mom got married to her wife, Diane back in 2009. So I get not one or even two, but three lovely women as mothers.

4. I didn't wear actual pants until I was 11. Before that it was all dress and skirts and sometimes, sometimes my mom could get me into shorts. I still wanted to climb trees and hang upside down from monkey bars, so my mom always had to buy me tons of bike shorts and leggings to wear under them. Thanks mom for dealing with all that!

5. According to my friends I have a weird knack for finding things.

Bonus extra fact: I'm really bad at coming up with facts about myself. This took me two days to finish because I kept avoiding it!

  1. Congratulations on your well-deserved award, Caitlin!

I think we're both similar in not being particularly good with compliments and awards. But I had no trouble at all coming up with six odd facts, and easily could have carried on with another six! ;o)

Number 5 must be a very handy knack to have!

    1. Handy sometimes. I'm usually better at finding my friend's stuff rather than my own.

  2. Ahah XD I had a hard time figuring out 5 odd facts about me too :D funny thing is, sometimes I notice I'm doing weird stuff and I think "why don't these thing come up to my mind when I'm tagged in a meme or award?" XD
I'm glad you were happy to receive this award by the way :D
Oh, and I have a question for you: what does it mean being a sorority girl? All I know about sororities and american colleges/universities comes from the tv shows I watch (mostly sit-coms :D) and what I've learned (or at least I *think* I learned...) is that in boy's fraternities there is much camaraderie and a very trivial humour (and a lot of sexism too), but what happens in sororities? I just remember Lily Aldrin from How I Met Your Mother gesticulating a lot and talking in a weird way XD

    1. I did the same thing! As to being a sorority girl, it does have a lot to do with life long sisterhood. While there is partying, most of the girls that I'm close to are more the lets hang out and watch Doctor Who and Pride and Prejudice type. So for me it's just a very big group of girls who I have a connection with. I've met some of my best friends through Phi Sig. Also we're very big on community service and that kind of stuff. As a national sorority we support the National Kidney Foundation. So not exactly the let's all get dressed up in sexy outfits and get drunk. Unfortunately fraternities are pretty much full of camaraderie and sexist jokes. Although I've also met some pretty cool guys and most of them are also big on the community service part too. Sorry for the long-winded reply. I hope that was enough information for you.

    2. Thank you for answering my (probably silly) question! :)
Wow, the idea of a group of girls talking about literature and tv series sounds amazing. I want to be in your sorority too XD

    1. It's super awesome! Very much a culture shock though, not in a bad way just takes a bit to get used to a culture so very different.
